Financial Potential
Living Budget Pro is different from other budgeting and spending plan software in that it creates up to a year’s worth of transactions. Future transactions are placeholders, and are updated via the check register. Creating a year’s worth of transactions provides Living Budget Pro with the ability to display your Financial Potential which is December’s ending balance. Generally, this money is the money that leaks out of your pockets; the money that flows into a “Black Hole”.
Updates to your living budget might cause your total financial potential to change. With the 2009 release of Living Budget Pro, we have placed a button/label on the workspace making it easy to keep updated. Living Budget Pro was designed with visibility in mind; with a clear view of your financial potential, you can more easily conceive attainable dreams and goals.
Spending Cash
As you might know, your current checkbook balance is not completely discretionary. In other words, the balance contains monies that will be used to satisfy upcoming bills. The Spending Cash feature, which is available at the click of a button, presents you with a cash amount that won’t cause your living budget to go negative in any future periods.
The Spending Cash feature utilizes the Budget Squeeze engine, which analyzes all periods testing for negatives. A benefit to using the Budget Squeeze engine is that it honors the balance buffer. The balance buffer provides a means for you to specify a minimum checkbook balance. That being said, the spending cash amount will be decreased when the balance buffer is set.
After reviewing the Spending Cash amount, you can either exit the screen, or enter a form where you can apply that amount to one, or many, new or existing payees (bills-debt sources).
Reconcile Over Budget
Living Budget Pro was designed to make creating and managing a living budget easier. There might be times where after making check register entries, that those expenditures caused a future period to go negative. Future negatives could be placing future bills or goals in jeopardy. It is very important that you make budgetary adjustments as quickly as possible so as to stay on-track.
Living Budget Pro provides a means for you to mark payees (bills) as discretionary. Discretionary means: funds not earmarked; available for use as needed. Upon exiting the check register Living Budget Pro will check all future periods for negatives, and if they exist, it will load the ‘Reconcile Over Budget’ form. The form loads all your discretionary payees and adjusts the payment amounts to satisfy the future negative amount.
The form provides a couple automatic ways to adjust payment amounts, while always making these amounts fully editable. Once complete your edits are transferred to your living budget. Again, this feature will keep your living budget real and up to date, and it provides a means for you to attain your goals.
